Require topics in channel messages

If a user sends a message without a topic, the message's topic is displayed as (no topic). Administrators can configure whether channel messages must have a specified topic.

Require topics in channel messages

This feature is only available to organization owners and administrators.

  1. Click on the gear () icon in the upper right corner of the web or desktop app.

  2. Select Organization settings.

  3. On the left, click Organization settings.

  4. Under Other settings, toggle Require topics in channel messages.

  5. Click Save changes.
